Have your say on the demolition of the former Sydney Fish Market
Blackwattle Bay is an exciting urban renewal opportunity, transforming over 10 hectares of industrial land into a sustainable world-class harbourfront destination. Following the opening of the new Sydney Fish Market, planning for demolition of the former Sydney Fish Market building is underway.
Demolition includes all former Sydney Fish Market buildings and surrounding structures to ground level, along with site clearing, temporary site setup, and disconnection of redundant services.
Key activities include:
- Use of heavy demolition machinery
- Concrete cutting and material removal
- Management and removal of hazardous materials, including asbestos
- Temporary site establishment and vehicle movements.
What is on public display?
A draft Review of Environmental Factors (REF) has been prepared to assess potential impacts such as noise, dust, traffic and safety associated with the demolition works. This planning process is designed to ensure the demolition is carried out responsibly and in line with NSW planning laws, with clear controls in place to protect nearby residents, workers and visitors to the area.
The draft Review of Environmental Factors report includes a main document, and appendices.
Feedback can be provided before Friday 12 June 2026, 5pm.
